Wells Residence (2013)

The Wells Residence is a single family home designed for a client's retirement on a 40-acre lot outside of Gainseville, FL.   The primary focus of the design was a large pitched roof set at an optimized angle for an array of solar panels.  This defined the primary space and allowed for a bank of North-facing clerestory windows, providing excellent natural ventilation.  More private spaces were located in the two wings with ample operable doors and windows leading to screened decks.

My role in the project began during the design development phase.  We worked closely with the owner in researching various technologies including solar & geothermal power, electrically operated windows, radiant floor heating, and folding door systems.  I also worked closely with the engineers developing the permit and bid set of drawings by acting as a draftsman for the structural and electrical engineers on the project.
